Atlanta’s highly anticipated new Westside Park at Bellwood Quarry is now slated to open in the late spring or early summer of 2021. Encompassing approximately 280 acres upon completion, Westside Park will be Atlanta’s largest greenspace, nearly 100 acres larger than Piedmont Park, and will connect the Proctor Creek Greenway and Chattahoochee River Corridor with the Atlanta Beltline.
At the heart of the $44 million park project is a 350-foot deep reservoir constructed on the site of the old Bellwood granite quarry which holds up to 2.4 billion gallons of water to provide an emergency water reserve for the city. The park will include a grand overlook with breathtaking panoramic views of the reservoir and the Atlanta skyline as well as a network of multi-use and ADA-accessible trails.
Once open, Westside Park will become Atlanta’s new gateway to the Westside set behind a landmark entrance at the intersection of Johnson Road and Grove Park Place. As opening day draws near, excitement is building about Atlanta’s largest and grandest greenspace yet. See you soon at Westside Park!
