Recent announcements from Seattle-based Microsoft have confirmed the tech giant’s intention to make an Atlanta a major hub as it embarks on significant expansion around the city. The centerpiece of that presence will be a new campus centered on 90 acres of prized property on the Westside near the new Westside Park.
Microsoft purchased the property – formerly known as the planned Quarry Yards development – for $127 million in September of 2020. While the company has not released detailed plans, Microsoft President Brad Smith has made clear in recent comments the company’s commitment to grow in Atlanta. Smith wrote in an official release from the company’s blog: “These are all significant investments and put Atlanta on a path toward becoming one of Microsoft’s largest hubs in the United States in the coming decade, after Puget Sound and Silicon Valley.” Expected plans for Microsoft’s Westside campus include a mixture of office, mixed use and housing opportunities.
